"Come to him, to that living stone, rejected by men but in God's sight chosen and precious, and like living stones be yourselves built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ." 1Peter 2:4-5
As Peter calls us to be those living stones that create a spiritual house, Bishop Taylor and the Episcopal Foundation of Western North Carolina are calling you to secure the future of that house through the Living Stones Society. The Living Stones Society is a society of people who have made planned gifts to a church, center or program within the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina. These gifts will create the stability that will sustain the church and its works well into the future. Secure Your Church for Future Generations: We are living in a time when a great transfer of wealth is about to occur because of the large generation entering retirement. As they begin to distribute their wealth, we want to challenge them to become the generation that ensures the Episcopal Churchand its many crucial works will be a thriving and positive force in the lives of the next generation and the ones after. We want to encourage them to become Living Stones. The Foundation of Western North Carolina is Here to Help: Through Living Stones Society gifts may pass through the Episcopal Foundation, they may also be made directly to the selected recipient. The Foundation's main focus with the Society is to provide education and training to clergy and parishioners about the program. For more information on the Living Stones Society, contact the Episcopal Foundation of Western North Carolina at 828-225-6656 The Episcopal Foundation of Western North Carolina is so very pleased that our Bishop Taylor has come to us to ask all Western North Carolina parishioners to become members of the Living Stones Society. We have looked for a cause that would put us in the forefront of the Diocese to help exemplify what we are all about. Our being the ones to come to you with the call to become a part of this vital emphasis gives your Foundation an even better part to play in the continuation of God's work here in our beloved mountains. This is just such an easy way to do ''such good works as He has prepared for us to walk in.'' So please join all of us by signing on today. Please make the needed additions to your will or final-plan documents, such as changing your parish or the Diocese as a beneficiary on a life insurance policy or annuity. Then, just fill out, sign, and return the attached form so that we may be joined by you as a member of the Living Stones Society. Thank you and God Bless you, Eugene M. "Bob" Carr, Jr. 2008 President The Episcopal Foundation of Western North Carolina
"As members of the church, we hold hands with the past and the future. We stand on the shoulders of those who have come before us and what we do in our time will be the foundations for those who come after us. The Living Stones Society is one of the important ways we provide for the future. My earnest desire is that all Episcopalians in WNC remember the church in their will or their estate planning. Let us remember all that God has done for us and give thanks by giving some of what we have for God's glory." ~Bishop Taylor
